- Arteta Concerned About Growing Injury List
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed his deep concerns regarding the hamstring injury sustained by defender William Saliba, who missed the recent 2-2 draw against Aston Villa.
Initially described as a “minor issue,” Saliba’s condition remains uncertain, with Arteta admitting after the match that further tests are required to assess the severity of the problem.
“I think tomorrow we will have more information. We will have another test on him, and we will be clearer about that,” Arteta explained.
The Arsenal boss did not hide his concern over Saliba potentially joining Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus on the injury list, especially given the squad’s current limitations.
“Yeah, for sure, especially with the numbers that we have in the squad and looking at our bench – very worried,” Arteta confessed.
Defensive Crisis at Arsenal
Arsenal’s defensive options are stretched thin, with Riccardo Calafiori, Ben White, and Takehiro Tomiyasu also sidelined. As a result, midfielder Thomas Partey was deployed as a right-back against Villa to cover the gaps.
Attacking Concerns Continue
In addition to the defensive worries, Arsenal are struggling in attack. Long-term absentees Saka and Jesus, along with the unavailability of Ethan Nwaneri, have left the squad lacking firepower. Arteta admitted that the club is actively seeking reinforcements before the January transfer window closes.
