Chelsea Defender Chooses Villa Over Tottenham in Late Loan Move
Aston Villa have secured a late loan deal for Chelsea centre-back Axel Disasi, beating Tottenham Hotspur in the race for his signature.
Disasi’s Decision: Why He Chose Villa Over Spurs
Disasi, 26, has struggled for game time under Enzo Maresca and was eager for a fresh start. Although Tottenham’s offer was accepted first, the French defender rejected the move, holding out for Aston Villa instead.
Villa, who are fighting for a top-four finish, eventually convinced Chelsea to sanction the loan deal despite initial resistance. They will pay a £5m loan fee for Disasi’s services until the end of the season.
Chelsea’s Deadline-Day Clearout Continues
Disasi is just one of several Chelsea players leaving the club in the final hours of the transfer window:
- Carney Chukwuemeka → Borussia Dortmund (Loan)
- Joao Felix → AC Milan (Loan)
- Ben Chilwell → Crystal Palace (Loan, pending medical)
- Deivid Washington → Santos (Loan)
Chelsea are offloading fringe players to streamline their squad as they push for a strong second half of the season under Maresca.
What’s Next for Disasi & Villa?
Will Disasi shine under Unai Emery and help Villa secure a Champions League spot? Did Chelsea make the right call in letting him leave?
