Klopp to Return Only After Premier League Title is Secured
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he will return to Anfield only when the Premier League title is mathematically secured.
Why Has Klopp Stayed Away from Anfield?
Klopp’s shocking decision to step down at the end of the 2023/24 season left many fans emotional. Since then, the legendary German coach has not been seen at Anfield, opting to watch from afar as Arne Slot has successfully led the club to the top of the table.
“I think I will be there for the last game,” Klopp stated.
“I didn’t want to go earlier because I didn’t want to jinx it. If I return and they lose, I’d feel responsible. So, I will only go when the title is secured.”
Will Klopp Join the Title Celebrations?

When asked about joining Liverpool’s potential title parade, Klopp confirmed he plans to be in the city but not on the bus.
“Yes, I will be in Liverpool, but not on the bus. I will be celebrating with the people I saw on the bus. That’s the idea, but we will see,” Klopp said during an event in South Africa.
How Does Klopp’s Approach Compare to Other Legendary Managers?
Other legendary managers have handled their post-exit relationship with their clubs differently:
- Sir Alex Ferguson moved directly from Manchester United’s dugout to the director’s box.
- Arsene Wenger waited over four years before returning to Arsenal.
- Bill Shankly, much like Klopp, distanced himself from Liverpool after stepping down but later regretted his decision.
Liverpool Fans Await Klopp’s Emotional Homecoming
Klopp has made it clear that he respects the club’s transition under Arne Slot and wants to give his successor full space. However, his return will be an emotional moment for fans, especially if it coincides with Liverpool’s title triumph.
