Liverpool’s Potential Round of 16 Opponents
By finishing first in the league phase, Liverpool will face one of these four clubs in the round of 16:
- Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)
- Benfica
- Monaco
- Brest
How Do Liverpool’s Possible Opponents Compare?
1️⃣ Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) – Despite finishing 15th in the league phase, PSG remain a serious threat. Luis Enrique’s side ended the first stage with three consecutive wins and haven’t lost since November’s defeat to Bayern Munich. With a talented, fast-paced frontline, PSG are the toughest potential draw for Liverpool.
2️⃣ Benfica – The Portuguese giants have a strong European pedigree and always pose a challenge in knockout football. If they make it past the play-offs, they could provide an intriguing test for Arne Slot’s team.
3️⃣ Monaco – Currently sitting in the upper half of Ligue 1, Monaco have shown flashes of brilliance but lack the consistency of Europe’s elite teams. Liverpool would likely be favorites in this matchup.
4️⃣ Brest – The biggest surprise package among the possible opponents, Brest would be the most favorable draw for Liverpool. However, underestimating any team at this stage of the competition could be dangerous.
When Will Liverpool Know Their Champions League Opponents?
Liverpool will have to wait until February 21, 2025, when UEFA conducts the official draw for the round of 16.
Before that, the knockout phase play-offs (February 11/12 & 18/19) will determine which two teams from PSG, Benfica, Monaco, and Brest advance to the last 16. Once those ties are decided, Liverpool’s opponent will be confirmed.
The draw will also establish the quarter-final and semi-final brackets, revealing Liverpool’s potential route to the final at the Allianz Arena in Munich.
When Will Liverpool Play in the Champions League Last 16?
📅 First Leg: March 4/5, 2025

The knockout stage schedule remains similar to previous seasons. After the round of 16, the quarter-finals will take place on April 8/9, followed by the semi-finals later in April.
The 2025 Champions League final will be played on May 31 at Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena.
