Chelsea continues to be heavily linked with Manchester United’s Argentine winger Alejandro Garnacho, but manager Enzo Maresca has played down speculation of a January move. Garnacho, 20, has drawn attention from Chelsea and Napoli, with a potential price tag of £60m.
Maresca Expresses Confidence in Current Winger Options
When asked about Chelsea’s interest in Garnacho, Maresca reiterated his confidence in the players currently at his disposal.
“I’m happy with what we have in this moment,” Maresca said, highlighting the depth in Chelsea’s squad. “On the right side, it is Pedro [Neto] and Noni [Madueke], on the left Jadon [Sancho]. Misha [Mudryk] was with us, but now he is not. Tyrique [George] is a young profile that can help us. In this moment, we are okay.”
While Maresca remains content with his current options, he did acknowledge that Chelsea is keeping an eye on potential opportunities during the transfer window.
Transfer Window Plans Still Unclear
Maresca confirmed Chelsea has yet to make significant moves in the transfer market, apart from recalling center-back Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Crystal Palace.
“With the club, the sporting directors, we pay attention if something can happen,” Maresca said. “But at the moment, ten days to go, we haven’t done anything. We just called back Trev. We will see in the next ten days if something is going to happen.”
Midfield Concerns Amid Injury Woes
Chelsea’s midfield has been stretched thin after injuries to Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia during the Bournemouth match. While Fernandez is expected to return soon, Lavia’s recovery could take a few more weeks.
Despite the limited options, Maresca ruled out the possibility of adding another midfielder to the squad:
“No. In this moment, I think we have enough players to cover the situation, with Moi [Caicedo], with Enzo… the last game, Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall] played there. At the moment, the intention is not to go for one more midfielder.”
