Amorim’s Candid Critique of Manchester United’s Struggles
Ruben Amorim has delivered a stark message to Manchester United players and fans following the club’s 3-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford. This loss marked United’s sixth home Premier League defeat of the season and the fourth since Amorim took charge.

The Portuguese head coach did not shy away from criticizing the team’s performances, suggesting the current squad may be among the weakest in the club’s 147-year history. Amorim warned that both players and supporters should brace for more tough times ahead as he remains steadfast in his tactical philosophy.

“I Won’t Change My Ways,” Says Amorim
Amorim made it clear in his post-match comments that he would not compromise his approach to managing the team, even amidst mounting pressure:

“That is clear for me. With me, it’s clear I’m not going to change the way I see the game. The players will suffer, and the fans are going to suffer. I’m really sorry, but I have one way of doing things.”

Amorim emphasized that everyone at the club was aware of his methods when he was appointed:

“I was very clear in everything, with the fans, the board, and everybody. They knew what to expect with me. But losing so many games is not acceptable. In five games at home, to lose four and win one is hard for any club. Imagine it at Manchester United – so we need to improve.”

United Must Become a “Different Team”
The former Sporting CP manager admitted that United needs a radical transformation to recover their season, calling the team’s current level of play insufficient for the Premier League.

“It’s not acceptable to lose so many games, no matter the moment or situation. Brighton were comfortable, and we didn’t play good football. You can watch this game and remember nothing. We cannot end games like this, with everybody out of position. No matter the result, we must be a different team.”

Brighton’s win puts them within four points of the Premier League’s top four, further highlighting the stark contrast between the two sides. Meanwhile, United faces an uphill battle to salvage their season as they continue to struggle under Amorim’s leadership.
