Romelu Lukaku has opened up about the stormy circumstances surrounding his Chelsea exit, revealing how the club allegedly manipulated the media and pressured him into leaving.

The Belgian striker rejoined Chelsea in 2021 for a club-record £97.5m fee but endured a disappointing season, scoring just eight Premier League goals before being loaned back to Inter Milan. However, after a failed permanent transfer to Inter in 2023, Lukaku found himself sidelined at Stamford Bridge until securing a £25m move to Napoli last summer.

“In England, they thought I was lazy, but I never reacted to the attacks. I just do my job and go home. In Italy, the perception is different—here, I’m seen as a worker.”

Since joining Napoli under Antonio Conte, Lukaku insists he is in better shape than ever, even highlighting his improved fitness levels compared to his Inter Milan days.
