Guardiola Dismisses Concerns Over Grealish’s Private Life
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has brushed off concerns regarding Jack Grealish’s off-field activities, insisting that his players are free to do as they please on their days off.
Following City’s recent FA Cup win over Plymouth, Grealish was reportedly seen bar-hopping in the north east, allegedly spending over £2,000 on drinks for fellow patrons. Videos of the England international appearing “unsteady” circulated online, sparking debate over his professionalism.
When asked about these reports in a press conference, Guardiola was visibly unimpressed with the line of questioning.
“A day off is a day off,” he responded. “They have private lives to do whatever they want. I’m not going to control what they do in their private life. I judge what I see on the pitch, the training sessions, and the performances in the game.”
However, Grealish’s performances this season have done little to silence critics.
Grealish’s City Struggles Continue

Since his club-record £100m transfer in 2021, Grealish has yet to fully justify his price tag. His 2024 campaign was a low point, failing to score a single goal throughout the year. While he has found the net twice in 2025, his lack of consistency has led to reduced game time.
The 29-year-old has not started a single Premier League match since Christmas, with Guardiola favoring the in-form Savinho. His absence has also raised concerns about his England future, with the Euro 2024 squad selection looming.
Will Grealish Stay at Manchester City?
While Guardiola stood by Grealish’s right to enjoy his personal life, he was far less definitive about his future at the Etihad.
“What happens in terms of Jack, in terms of everyone, they will be treated at the end of the season,” Guardiola said.
“Right now, we are playing for many important things for the club. He is a player for Man City. What will happen? I don’t know what is going to happen.”
With Manchester City still competing for major trophies, Grealish’s fate is likely to be decided this summer. But with his playing time dwindling and speculation growing, could this be his final season in sky blue?
