Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta shared uplifting injury updates as the Gunners prepare to host Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League on Wednesday. Despite a season plagued by fitness setbacks, Arsenal are set to welcome back two key players to the squad.

William Saliba’s Encouraging Recovery

William Saliba missed Arsenal's collapse against Aston Villa

William Saliba, who suffered a muscular issue during Arsenal’s recent 2-2 draw with Aston Villa, has been making strong progress in his recovery. While initial reports suggested a two-week absence, Arteta confirmed that the French defender is “evolving really well.”

Arteta added, “The last few days he was feeling much better already, but this game comes a little bit too early for him.” Saliba’s anticipated return will bring much-needed stability to Arsenal’s defense.

Riccardo Calafiori and Ethan Nwaneri Back in the Squad

Riccardo Calafiori, who has endured a challenging debut season due to recurring fitness issues, is set to return for the midweek European fixture. Arteta also confirmed that teenage sensation Ethan Nwaneri is available for selection.

“Very positive news,” Arteta said with enthusiasm. “We missed them for a few weeks, but they returned today for training and will be available for the game.”

Bukayo Saka’s Long-Term Absence

Bukayo Saka remains Arsenal’s most significant absentee. The dependable winger sustained a hamstring tear before Christmas, ruling him out for several months. Arteta shared an update, saying: “He’s doing really well, feeling better day by day, but we have to respect the healing process.”

While a March return remains the target, Saka’s absence continues to be a challenge for the Gunners as they navigate a congested schedule.
