Man City Edge Past Leyton Orient in FA Cup Thriller
Manchester City narrowly avoided a major upset in the FA Cup fourth round, coming from behind to defeat Leyton Orient 2-1 at Brisbane Road. A Kevin De Bruyne strike sealed the win after a spirited performance from the League One side.
Shock Start as Leyton Orient Stun City
Despite Pep Guardiola fielding a strong lineup, Leyton Orient took a shock lead early in the game. Jamie Donley’s audacious lob struck the crossbar and rebounded off Stefan Ortega, resulting in an own goal for the City goalkeeper.
City struggled to break down the well-organized Orient defense, with Bernardo Silva having a shot cleared off the line and Omar Marmoush testing goalkeeper Josh Keeley. At halftime, the underdogs led 1-0, leaving City with work to do.
Man City Turn the Game Around
The visitors equalized ten minutes into the second half when Rico Lewis‘ long-range effort took a lucky deflection off substitute Abdukodir Khusanov, wrongfooting Keeley and finding the net.
With James McAtee hitting the post, City pushed hard for a winner. It finally came in the 72nd minute when Jack Grealish provided a perfect through ball for Kevin De Bruyne, who calmly finished past Keeley to complete the comeback.
