Cesare Casadei Set for January Transfer to Lazio

Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei is reportedly on the verge of completing a permanent move to Lazio, with an £11m transfer deal close to being finalized.

Lack of Opportunities at Chelsea

Casadei has struggled to break into Chelsea’s first-team setup this season, featuring primarily in the UEFA Conference League and rarely being included in Premier League matchday squads. Despite his promising loan spell under Enzo Maresca at Leicester City last season, opportunities have been scarce for the talented Italian midfielder.

Over the weekend, Casadei’s agent, Francesco Facchinetti, hinted at the transfer by sharing a social media post from Rome, fueling speculation about a potential move. Reports from BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella suggest that a deal between Chelsea and Lazio is “believed to be close.”

The proposed transfer includes a substantial sell-on clause, ensuring Chelsea will benefit financially should Lazio sell Casadei for a profit in the future.

A Promising Future with Lazio

Lazio is currently enjoying a strong season, sitting fourth in Serie A and firmly in contention for Champions League qualification. Under Marco Baroni, the team is also excelling in the Europa League, leading their group with one matchday remaining.

The move to Lazio could offer Casadei the chance to revive his career and showcase his talent on a larger stage. Despite never playing professionally in Italy, the 22-year-old Ravenna-born midfielder has shown promise in loan spells with Reading and Leicester City, where he made a combined 40 appearances.
