Arsenal receives a boost as Bukayo Saka takes a step forward in his recovery.
Saka Takes Positive Step in Injury Recovery
Bukayo Saka, who has been sidelined since December due to a severe hamstring injury, has shown progress in his recovery as he returns to light training. This news offers Arsenal and manager Mikel Arteta a much-needed boost, especially as the team faces a forward crisis with multiple key players out injured.
Arsenal’s Forward Crisis: Saka, Havertz, Jesus, and Martinelli Out
In addition to Saka, Gabriel Jesus has also been sidelined since January, while Gabriel Martinelli is not expected to return until at least March. The latest blow for Arsenal came with the news that Kai Havertz is likely to be out for the remainder of the season after tearing his hamstring during a mid-season training camp.
However, there is some positive news: Saka has been involved in light training during Arsenal’s trip to Dubai, a sign that his recovery is progressing. Despite this, Arteta has emphasized that Saka’s return is not imminent, and his full recovery timeline points to a return around March.
Saka’s Break and Recovery Plan
In January, Arteta had suggested that Saka take some time off to refresh and recharge, alongside his rehabilitation, in order to aid his recovery. “He needs to get away for a few days and refresh,” said Arteta. “It will make him better.”
Saka seems to have benefited from this break and is now focusing on the next stage of his recovery. However, the expectation is that he won’t be rushing back to full action before March.
Ben White’s Progress and Potential Return
While Saka continues his recovery, Ben White is making strides ahead of him. The right-back, who has been out since late November due to knee surgery, could make his return this weekend against Leicester City. This would be a welcome addition for Arsenal, who will need to bolster their squad as they navigate these injury struggles.
