Diallo Could Make a Shock Comeback This Season
Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has provided a surprising update on Amad Diallo’s injury status, revealing that the young forward could return before the end of the season.
Amad has been sidelined since February due to an ankle ligament injury, with initial reports suggesting he would miss the remainder of the campaign. However, Amorim remains hopeful.
“I have the hope to have Amad before [the season’s conclusion],” Amorim told reporters on Friday. “We will see the end of the last month.”
Amad’s Impact Despite His Absence

Before his injury, the 22-year-old had been a bright spark in an otherwise challenging season for United. With six Premier League goals, he remains the club’s top scorer—outperforming both Joshua Zirkzee (3) and Rasmus Hojlund (2).
His return could provide a much-needed boost for Amorim’s side, who have struggled with injuries and inconsistency throughout the campaign.
Manchester United’s Injury Situation
Beyond Diallo, Amorim also shared updates on other key players:
- Kobbie Mainoo is close to returning.
- Harry Maguire‘s condition requires caution.
- Manuel Ugarte, Mason Mount, and Luke Shaw could all return soon.
- Lisandro Martinez remains out long-term due to an ACL tear.
Despite these potential comebacks, United’s squad remains stretched. The team fielded just 18 players in their 1-1 Europa League draw against Real Sociedad and struggled with fatigue late in the game.
Looking ahead, Amorim isn’t optimistic about having reinforcements in time for this weekend’s crucial Premier League clash against Arsenal.
“We need to survive Sunday,” he admitted.
