Barcelona Offloads Vitor Roque to Palmeiras
Barcelona’s Brazilian striker Vitor Roque has officially left the club to join Palmeiras in a permanent deal on the final day of the Brazilian transfer window. The 19-year-old endured a tough 12 months in European football and failed to establish himself in Xavi’s squad.
After a short loan spell at Real Betis, Roque has now secured a return to his home country, where he hopes to rediscover his best form.
Financial Breakdown of the Transfer
How Much Did Barcelona Receive?
According to MARCA, the total package for Roque’s transfer includes:
- €25m (£20.6m) upfront payment to Barcelona
- €5m (£4.1m) in add-ons, based on performance-related bonuses
- 20% sell-on clause for any future transfer
Barcelona had originally signed Roque for €30m (£24.8m) in 2023, with an additional €31m in potential bonuses. However, since those bonuses were never triggered, Barcelona’s final expense remained €30m.
What Are the Add-Ons?
The €5m in add-ons depends on Roque’s achievements, including:
- A bonus if he finishes among the top three players at a World Cup
- An additional payment if he plays at least 60% of the minutes in a Copa Libertadores-winning campaign
- Other incentives linked to Palmeiras’ success during his time at the club
Barcelona’s Financial Strategy
Despite parting ways with Roque, Barcelona’s 20% sell-on clause ensures that they could still benefit financially if he makes another big transfer in the future.
This deal potentially allows Barcelona to recoup more than the €30m they initially invested in the player.
