Liverpool’s Recent Form Sparks Questions, But Van Dijk Remains Confident
Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has dismissed concerns over his team’s recent performances, laughing off claims that the Reds are in a “crisis” despite a dip in form during the winter months.

Under new manager Arne Slot, Liverpool enjoyed a commanding start to the season but have struggled in recent weeks, winning just three of their last seven Premier League matches. This downturn has allowed Arsenal to close the gap at the top of the table to just four points.

Van Dijk: “The Premier League Is a Tough League”

Speaking to reporters, Van Dijk shrugged off the criticism and highlighted the competitive nature of England’s top flight:
“Ooh, so we are in a crisis now?” he joked.
“It only confirms the Premier League is a very tough league where you play against opponents who are very good. It was always going to be tough, same with [Manchester] United at home with their new manager and the game plan they have been showing, especially against the bigger teams.”

Despite their struggles, Liverpool remain confident of maintaining their lead at the summit of the league.

Positives Amid Challenges
Liverpool have shown resilience, coming from behind in five of their last seven matches. Van Dijk emphasized the importance of perseverance:
“It shows resilience. No-one wants to come from behind, but we have to keep working on that. We need everyone in the best shape to prevent conceding first, but if it happens, we have to keep fighting, keep trying, and find opportunities to turn the game around.”

Looking Ahead
Van Dijk acknowledged that improvement is necessary to avoid conceding early but insisted that Liverpool’s ability to bounce back reflects their strength:
“All we can do is try to do it better in the next game. If we play like we did in the second half and keep fighting, I am confident we will score goals like we have been doing all season.”
