Spurs Drop Interest in Disasi & Fail in Guehi Pursuit

Tottenham Hotspur have officially ended their interest in Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on transfer deadline day, while also seeing a record-breaking bid for Marc Guehi rejected by Crystal Palace.

Injury concerns have plagued Spurs throughout the season, particularly in central defense. With Cristian Romero and Radu Dragusin sidelined indefinitely, Tottenham were keen to bring in reinforcements before the window shut.

However, a potential loan deal for Disasi collapsed, while a £70m bid for Guehi – structured as £55m upfront plus £15m in add-ons – was turned down by Palace.

Why Did Tottenham Abandon the Disasi Deal?

Initially, Tottenham and Chelsea agreed on a loan deal for Disasi, but the move depended on the player’s approval. Reports suggest the French defender was not convinced by a move to Spurs, especially with Aston Villa also in the picture.

Fabrizio Romano later confirmed that Villa had also stepped back from negotiations, leaving Disasi’s immediate future uncertain. With no progress on the deal, Spurs opted to move on.

Crystal Palace Hold Firm on Guehi

Tottenham went all-in for Marc Guehi, submitting their biggest-ever offer for a defender. However, Palace swiftly rejected the bid, preferring to keep their star centre-back at Selhurst Park for at least another season.

With Newcastle United also previously interested in Guehi, Spurs might revisit this pursuit in the summer, especially since the England international’s contract will only have one year left by then.

What’s Next for Tottenham?

Despite missing out on Disasi and Guehi, Tottenham have already secured the signing of Kevin Danso on loan. The former Southampton defender, who has impressed at Lens, is expected to bolster Spurs’ defensive options.

With the transfer window closed, Spurs will now focus on managing their injury crisis and pushing for a strong finish in the Premier League.
