Chelsea Owner Expands Sports Portfolio with Investment in The Hundred Franchise
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has made a significant move into the world of cricket, agreeing to a deal worth close to £40 million for a 49% stake in Trent Rockets, one of the teams in the English cricket competition, The Hundred. This investment marks Boehly’s continued expansion into UK sports beyond football, further diversifying his already extensive sports portfolio.
Boehly’s Strategic Investment in Trent Rockets
The deal sees Boehly, alongside business partner Jonathan Goldstein, acquire a nearly 50% stake in Trent Rockets. The team, which competes in The Hundred, a short-form format introduced in English cricket in 2019, is valued at £79 million following the buy-in. Nottinghamshire CCC will maintain the controlling 51% stake in the team.
