Dyche Departs Amid Poor Form
Everton have confirmed the immediate dismissal of manager Sean Dyche, just hours before their FA Cup third-round tie against Peterborough. The decision comes after a dismal run of results, with the Toffees managing only three wins in 19 games this season, leaving them precariously positioned just one point above the relegation zone.
Dyche’s Candid Acknowledgment
Dyche, who took charge in January 2023, recently admitted that his position was under scrutiny due to the team’s poor performances.
“To be clear, it should be,” Dyche stated. “At the end of the day, if you’re a business of this size, and this club, succession planning should surely be part of their diligence.
“You’ve got to win games, and we haven’t won enough this season. You’ve got to make sure the team is operating the right way and try to please everyone all the time. That’s the job, and we haven’t done that often enough. It comes down to me, without any shadow of a doubt.”
Coaching Staff Also Depart
Alongside Dyche, several members of his backroom staff—Ian Woan, Steve Stone, Mark Howard, and Billy Mercer—have also left the club.
Interim Arrangements
Everton have placed Under-18 manager Leighton Baines and club captain Seamus Coleman in charge of the first team for Thursday’s FA Cup match against Peterborough. Meanwhile, the club has begun the search for a permanent replacement to steer the team away from relegation trouble.
