Lewandowski Confirms Commitment to Barcelona Amid Transfer Speculation
- Polish striker insists he has no plans to leave Barcelona this summer
- Lewandowski remains confident about his longevity despite turning 37 in August
- Barcelona linked with younger strikers but faces financial constraints
Barcelona’s prolific forward Robert Lewandowski has put an end to rumors surrounding his future, confirming his commitment to the club despite ongoing speculation. The 36-year-old has been linked with a potential move away, with interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League, but he remains focused on continuing his journey in Catalonia.
Lewandowski: “I’m Happy at Barcelona”
Speaking after receiving Poland’s Player of the Year award for 2024, Lewandowski emphasized that he feels at home in Barcelona and has no intention of leaving.
“I feel very good at Barcelona – not only at the club, but also among the fans. I feel it every day; in the stadium, in the streets. I’m really happy where I am and the club where I play. I don’t think about anything else and probably nothing will happen in this matter.”
Age Is Just a Number for Lewandowski
Despite turning 37 in August, the Polish international remains confident in his physical abilities and long-term form. He dismissed concerns about his age, highlighting his motivation and hunger for success.
“I am proud of how old I am and what age I am. I am not ashamed and I do not see a problem with being 37. From a physical point of view, I am not afraid, but will there be the will? It all depends on how things will work out.
“Today, I have a smile on my face, I play on green pitches with great pleasure and I want to win some more. As long as my heart tells me it is worth it, I will do it.”
Barcelona’s Transfer Dilemma
While Barcelona is rumored to be eyeing younger attacking reinforcements like Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting CP) and Alexander Isak (Newcastle United), financial constraints make such transfers challenging. Both players have been in exceptional form this season, but securing their signatures would require significant financial investment, something the club is currently struggling with.
What’s Next for Lewandowski?
With 29 goals in 30 appearances under Hansi Flick, Lewandowski has proven he can still perform at the highest level. But will Barcelona stick with their veteran striker, or will they make a bold move for a younger forward?
