- Real Madrid Reignite January Pursuit
- Full-back reportedly keen to join on a free transfer in the summer
- Liverpool have already rejected an approach
Real Madrid are making another attempt to sign Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in the coming days.
Madrid are optimistic about securing Alexander-Arnold’s signature on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season. However, their recent struggles have led them to push for a deal to be completed in January.
Liverpool rejected an initial approach earlier in the transfer window, but recent reports suggest Madrid is not giving up. According to MARCA, club officials are now looking to act swiftly to address the team’s slump. They believe signing Alexander-Arnold now could provide a boost to their current squad and help avoid overpaying for a player they believe has already made the decision to join them in the summer.
Madrid will still try to avoid overpaying, as Alexander-Arnold is expected to join for free in the summer, but they are prepared to offer a deal to tempt Liverpool into selling their homegrown talent while they still have the chance.
In addition to Alexander-Arnold, Real Madrid are also prioritizing a new left-back and centre-back. Negotiations with Bayern Munich’s Alphonso Davies are ongoing, despite recent speculation of a contract extension with the Bundesliga club.
