Barcelona Secure Pau Cubarsi’s Future Until 2029
Barcelona have confirmed the signing of a new long-term contract with teenage centre-back Pau Cubarsi. The young defender, who has impressed since his debut at just 17 years old, has now pledged to stay at the club until the summer of 2029.
A Rapid Rise for Pau Cubarsi
Cubarsi made an immediate impact after breaking into the first team last January. Despite his age and limited experience, he quickly became a key figure in Barcelona’s defense. With 60 appearances already under his belt, Cubarsi is already a vital part of Barcelona’s squad alongside other La Masia graduates such as Lamine Yamal, Gavi, Alejandro Blade, Fermin Lopez, and Marc Casado.
Cubarsi’s Consistency Amid Competition
Even with the return of vice-captain Ronald Araujo to full fitness, Cubarsi has managed to keep his place in the starting lineup. He has formed a solid partnership with veteran defender Inigo Martinez and looks set to continue in the first-team mix, with both Martinez and Araujo dealing with minor injuries recently.
Balancing Football and Education
Remarkably, Pau Cubarsi is still completing his final year of high school. Despite his demanding football schedule, he manages to attend classes in the afternoon. In an interview with RAC1, he revealed the challenges of balancing both his studies and his football career, but remains focused on finishing his education. He plans to pursue a degree in marketing or business administration once his high school studies are completed.
A Bright Future for Barcelona’s Young Star
With this new contract, Pau Cubarsi has committed his future to Barcelona and is poised to become a key figure in the club’s defense for years to come. His remarkable rise is a testament to the club’s faith in youth development and the La Masia philosophy.
