Man Utd’s 5-Day Scouting Mission for Sporting CP Talent

United’s Ongoing Interest in Quenda

Manchester United are intensifying their summer transfer plans, focusing on players who align with Ruben Amorim’s tactical vision. One of the prime targets is Geovany Quenda, the 17-year-old Sporting CP talent who has already shown promise under Amorim’s management.

According to Portuguese outlet Record, United had scouts in Porto on Friday night, watching Quenda during Sporting’s 1-1 draw against Primeira Liga rivals. The youngster started on the left wing and played the full 90 minutes, showcasing his adaptability and work rate.

Double-Check: United to Scout Quenda Again in Champions League

This isn’t a one-off assessment—United plan to watch Quenda again on Tuesday night, when Sporting CP face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Such extensive scouting highlights the club’s serious interest in securing the teenage sensation.

Quenda has made 36 appearances this season and was initially used as a right wing-back under Amorim until November. His tactical flexibility makes him a strong candidate for United’s evolving system. Since Rui Borges took charge at Sporting, Quenda has been utilized in a more attacking left-wing role, adding another dimension to his game.

How Would Quenda Fit into United’s Squad?

United have already begun restructuring their wide options, bringing in Patrick Dorgu from Lecce in the January window. Although Dorgu was expected to play on the left flank, he debuted on the right side during United’s recent FA Cup win against Leicester City.

Meanwhile, Diogo Dalot, traditionally a right-sided player, has spent most of the season on the left due to squad constraints. The potential arrival of Quenda could provide balance and competition in these positions, reinforcing United’s width and attacking dynamics.

Have Your Say!

What do you think about Manchester United’s pursuit of Geovany Quenda? Is he the right fit for the club’s rebuild under Amorim? Share your thoughts in the comments!
