Manchester United Midfielder Casemiro Open to Serie A Loan

Manchester United’s Brazilian midfielder Casemiro could be set for a short-term move to Serie A, with Roma emerging as a potential destination. The experienced star is reportedly open to a loan deal until the end of the season, as his playing time at Old Trafford continues to dwindle.

Casemiro’s Struggles at Manchester United

After a brilliant debut season in 2022/23 that saw him become a fan favorite, Casemiro has struggled to replicate his previous form. Signed from Real Madrid for an initial £60m, the 32-year-old has faced challenges adapting to new head coach Ruben Amorim’s system.

Amorim has increasingly relied on younger options in midfield, including Kobbie Mainoo, Manuel Ugarte, and Toby Collyer, along with captain Bruno Fernandes. As a result, Casemiro has been left on the bench for eight of United’s last ten Premier League games and has yet to make an appearance in 2025.

Roma Interested in Loan Deal

According to reports from Sky Sport Italia, Manchester United are open to allowing Casemiro to leave on loan before the winter transfer window closes. Roma, led by Jose Mourinho, have expressed interest in bringing the veteran midfielder to Serie A.

This potential deal may hinge on Roma offloading Leandro Paredes, who is rumored to be joining Boca Juniors. While United would prefer a permanent transfer, no such offers have materialized, despite previous links to the Saudi Pro League.

Why Serie A Could Be the Right Move

At nearly 33 years old, the slower and more tactical style of Italian football might suit Casemiro’s skill set at this stage of his career. The five-time Champions League winner could bring invaluable experience to Roma as they aim to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season.

Casemiro’s current contract with Manchester United runs until 2026, so his long-term future remains uncertain. A successful loan stint in Serie A could serve as a fresh start for the Brazilian while providing United with options for the summer transfer window.
