Manchester United will demand a fee of at least €60m (£50.3m) to part ways with striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer, a report in Italy has claimed.

Hojlund has struggled to live up to the expectations stemming from his £72m switch to United in the summer of 2023 and recently ended a run of 21 games without scoring as he netted just his 24th goal in 82 matches for the Red Devils.

A lack of goals has been a key issue for head coach Ruben Amorim, who is expected to be handed a new big-money striker this summer. A list of four names has been drawn up, one of whom is Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.

Among all the speculation of a move for Osimhen, Napoli have been tipped to take Hojlund in exchange, with manager Antonio Conte believed to be keen on working with the Denmark international.

If United are to sell Hojlund this summer, La Gazzetta dello Sport state they hope to recover a large part of their investment in the 22-year-old with an asking price of at least €60m.

Such a fee is said to be too high for Napoli, or any side in Serie A, but Conte’s outfit will continue to monitor the situation in the hope of driving down United’s asking price.

Hojlund, for his part, has publicly stressed his desire to continue working under Amorim and United, but the Red Devils are expected to have to sell players before they can make any big-money signings, potentially opening the door to a summer departure for Hojlund.

Alongside the striker, midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is another who could be sold for a significant sum as United prepare for a complete squad overhaul.
