Vitor Reis is not the only defensive recruit expected at the Etihad. Manchester City are also on the verge of signing Lens centre-back Abdukodir Khusanov for a reported £33.6m. At just 20 years old, Khusanov, like Reis, represents Pep Guardiola’s focus on bolstering the squad with young talent amid an ongoing injury crisis.

Meanwhile, experienced full-back Kyle Walker appears close to leaving Manchester City, with a move to AC Milan described as “virtually done.”

Expanding City’s January Wishlist

In addition to defensive signings, Manchester City have been linked with a move for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Omar Marmoush. While Reis and Khusanov are arriving for relatively moderate fees, Frankfurt are reportedly demanding €80m (£67.4m) for their star attacker.
