Man Utd Left-Back Returns to Group Training After Two-Month Absence
- Luke Shaw back in full training with the first team
- Defender has missed nearly two months due to injury
- Expected to need additional time before returning to match action
- Man Utd closing in on left-back signing Patrick Dorgu
Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has taken a major step in his recovery, rejoining first-team training as he edges closer to full fitness. The England international has endured a difficult 12 months plagued by injuries, but his latest comeback brings hope for both United and their defensive stability.
Shaw’s Injury Struggles: A Year of Setbacks
Shaw initially suffered a hamstring injury against Luton Town last February, forcing him to miss the remainder of the 2023/24 season. He recovered in time to feature for England at Euro 2024, only to be sidelined again with a calf problem shortly after.
His return under new manager Ruben Amorim was short-lived, as another fitness setback in early December ruled him out for two more months. Now, back in group training, Shaw is aiming to return to action soon, but United are taking a cautious approach.
When Will Shaw Be Match Fit?
Despite his return to training, Shaw was not included in the travelling squad for the Europa League clash against FCSB. Amorim has previously stated that the left-back will need at least two weeks of training before being considered for selection.
Man Utd’s Left-Back Situation & Transfer Update
With Shaw absent, right-back Diogo Dalot has been filling in on the left, while Tyrell Malacia recently recovered from a long-term injury but could leave on loan, with Real Betis showing interest.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are close to signing 20-year-old Denmark international Patrick Dorgu from Lecce. The Red Devils have agreed a deal worth £25.1m, potentially rising to £29.3m, with the transfer set to be finalized before Monday’s deadline.
What’s Next for Luke Shaw?
United fans will be hoping that Shaw’s latest comeback is a turning point in his injury-hit career. But with the club pushing for a new left-back signing, will he still have a key role in Amorim’s long-term plans?
