Gakpo’s Injury & Liverpool’s Squad Adjustments
The 25-year-old Dutch forward has been a key player for Arne Slot’s side, contributing 16 goals across all competitions, including eight in the Premier League. However, he requested to be substituted during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Everton, raising concerns over his fitness.
Speaking before the game, Slot confirmed that Gakpo had suffered an issue but did not specify the nature of the injury. When Liverpool’s squad was announced just an hour before kick-off, Gakpo was not included, with Diogo Jota stepping in to replace him in the attack.
Alongside Gakpo, Curtis Jones (suspended), Joe Gomez, and Tyler Morton (injured) were also unavailable for selection. However, Trent Alexander-Arnold returned to the starting lineup, replacing Conor Bradley.
Liverpool’s Title Challenge Under Pressure
The Reds currently sit at the top of the Premier League table, but Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday has closed the gap to just four points. With a congested fixture schedule, Liverpool have struggled for consistency, dropping points in three of their last six league games.
Despite the challenges, recent away victories against Brentford and Bournemouth have demonstrated their resilience. However, with Arsenal pushing hard—even without key players Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz—Liverpool must maintain their momentum.
Liverpool’s Starting XI vs Wolves (4-2-3-1)
Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Salah, Jota, Diaz.
