Young Forward Signs Long-Term Deal Before Sunderland Loan
Liverpool have confirmed that Jayden Danns has signed a new long-term contract with the club before completing a loan move to Championship side Sunderland for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
The 19-year-old forward will initially stay at Liverpool’s training ground to recover from a back injury, which was identified during his pre-transfer medical with Sunderland. Once fully fit, he will link up with the Black Cats as they push for promotion to the Premier League.
Sunderland Eye Promotion with Danns in Attack
Sunderland currently sit fourth in the Championship, just three points off an automatic promotion spot. Despite a winless November, they remain one of the strongest teams in the division, boasting a competitive goal difference.
Speaking after completing his move, Danns expressed his excitement about joining Sunderland:
“This is my first loan move and a chance to prove myself, so I’m very appreciative of the opportunity and grateful to the club for placing their faith in me.”
“I’ve done my research and the team is incredible, so this feels like the right step. I’m disappointed that I will be unable to do that straightaway, but I’m proud to have joined the club and will work hard to return to action.”
Liverpool’s Rising Talent Joins Exciting Sunderland Squad
At Sunderland, Danns will join a promising young squad that includes Jobe Bellingham, younger brother of Jude Bellingham, and 17-year-old Chris Rigg.
Danns has already made nine first-team appearances for Liverpool, including a cameo in last season’s Carabao Cup final victory at Wembley. The young striker is also the son of former EFL midfielder Neil Danns, who continued playing non-league football well into his 40s.
