Chelsea Forward to Undergo Medical as Departure Agreed
Joao Felix is set to complete his move to AC Milan after Chelsea and the Serie A giants reached an agreement for the Portugal international. The 25-year-old forward will undergo a medical with Milan before sealing his six-month loan move away from Stamford Bridge.
Felix joined Chelsea in the summer of 2023 on a seven-year contract after arriving from Atletico Madrid for a transfer fee of £42m plus £4.3m in add-ons. However, after competing for a starting spot in a crowded Chelsea attack alongside players like Jadon Sancho, Pedro Neto, Noni Madueke, and Cole Palmer, Felix struggled for consistent minutes and has found himself sidelined under Chelsea’s new manager Enzo Maresca.
Felix’s Chelsea Struggles and Milan’s Interest
Felix’s time at Chelsea has been marred by limited playing time, with his most notable appearances coming in the Conference League group stage. Milan, who have been keen on the forward throughout the January transfer window, intensified negotiations with Chelsea over the weekend, eventually reaching an agreement for a loan deal.
Reports from Gianluca Di Marzio and other Italian media outlets confirm that Milan has agreed to pay Felix’s full wages for the remainder of the season, in addition to a loan fee in the region of €5.5m (£4.5m). This deal will see Felix gain more playing time, which he hopes will enhance his development as he moves closer to his international goals.
Felix’s Chelsea Exit and Other Transfer News
Felix’s move to Milan is part of a busy transfer deadline day for Chelsea. The club has also completed the signings of Mathis Amougou, a 19-year-old midfielder from Saint-Étienne, for around €15m (£12.5m). Felix will now take Chelsea’s final overseas loan spot, leaving other players like Deivid Washington and Carney Chukwuemeka to finalize their moves to Santos and Borussia Dortmund, respectively.
As for Chelsea, with Felix departing, the club still faces other potential exits, including Aaron Anselmino, whose move to Marseille fell through, and Axel Disasi, whose loan hopes depend on negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.
