Everton Football Club has resolved its outstanding Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) charges with the Premier League and will face no further action.

Charges Resolved
Previously, Everton was deducted ten points in November 2023 for breaching Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules. A second charge was subsequently brought by the Premier League for the 2022/23 season. Without a resolution, another substantial points deduction was a possibility, threatening the club’s survival in the Premier League.

A joint statement from Everton and the Premier League reads: “The outstanding element of the complaint against Everton Football Club for its breach of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules for the period ending Season 2022/23 has been discontinued, meaning that the club will face no further action.

“In March 2024, an independent Commission imposed a two-point deduction for Everton’s admitted breach of £16.6m. Initially, the club sought to appeal the decision in May 2024 but later withdrew, leaving the two-point deduction in place for the 2023/24 season.”

Second Part of the Case
The second part of the case involved the treatment of interest payments related to Everton’s new stadium and whether the club’s accounting treatment influenced the extent of the admitted breach. After reviewing additional information provided by Everton, the Premier League Board decided it would not be appropriate to pursue further action.

This resolution marks the end of all proceedings between the Premier League and Everton regarding PSR breaches for the financial years ending 30 June 2022 and 30 June 2023.

New Chapter with Moyes
Recently, Everton made a managerial change, bringing David Moyes back for a second tenure. The 61-year-old, who managed Everton for 11 years before moving to Manchester United in 2013, takes over from Sean Dyche, who was dismissed by The Friedkin Group. Moyes is tasked with stabilizing the club and guiding them through a challenging period.
