Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has shared his confidence in the club’s handling of the ongoing Premier League investigation, shortly after committing his long-term future to the team.
Haaland Signs Record-Breaking Contract
Earlier this month, Haaland inked a historic deal that ties him to Manchester City until 2034. The contract, considered one of the largest in football history, effectively ended transfer pursuits by European giants like Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Haaland addressed rumors that his new deal might include a clause allowing him to leave if City face relegation due to the 115 charges of financial misconduct. The Norwegian striker laughed off the suggestion, stating:
“No, I haven’t thought about that. I’m confident that the club knows what they’re doing, and honestly, I don’t think it’s something I should talk much about.”
Confidence Amid Legal Challenges
The Premier League’s charges have raised concerns about possible severe repercussions, including relegation from the league. However, Haaland reiterated his trust in City’s leadership, saying:
“I’ve been here for two and a half years, and I’m confident the club knows what they are doing.”
When pressed about potential moves to clubs like Real Madrid in the future, Haaland humorously dismissed the idea, emphasizing his commitment to Manchester City:
“To Madrid? I’ve just signed a nine-and-a-half-year contract with City. I’m happy with my choice and look forward to many more years in Manchester.”
