Haaland Extends Contract Until 2034
Manchester City has secured the long-term services of Erling Haaland, with the Norwegian striker signing a sensational new contract that runs until the summer of 2034. This extension solidifies Haaland’s commitment to City as he enters his third season at the Etihad Stadium, where he has already amassed an astonishing 111 goals across all competitions, including 79 in just 87 Premier League matches.
Ending Transfer Speculation: No Move to LaLiga
Haaland’s previous deal, set to expire in 2027, sparked rumors of a potential move to LaLiga giants Real Madrid or Barcelona, clubs eager to pair him with superstars like Jude Bellingham and Pedri. However, the new deal, described as one of the most lucrative in sporting history, dismisses any speculation. The contract reportedly removes all previous release clauses, ensuring Haaland’s stay at City. A new clause, effective from 2029, remains undisclosed but is said to involve a “very high” figure.

A Vital Boost Amid City’s Struggles
The timing of this news is crucial as Manchester City battles through a challenging campaign. Despite Pep Guardiola’s squad winning the Premier League six times in the last eight years, their current form is underwhelming. With only two wins in their last 14 matches, City sits 12 points behind league leaders Liverpool, although they have a game in hand.
In the Champions League, City’s struggles continue as they find themselves 22nd in the reformed group stage standings. Securing victories in their final two group matches is essential, with Haaland carrying the weight of expectation. So far, he has contributed five goals in six Champions League games and is second in the Premier League Golden Boot race, trailing Mohamed Salah.
Busy Transfer Window Ahead
Alongside Haaland’s contract extension, City is active in the transfer market. Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush is close to joining the squad, alongside defensive reinforcements Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis.
