Dalot Backs Amorim’s Vision at Manchester United
Diogo Dalot has expressed his strong belief that Manchester United can win the Premier League and other major trophies under the leadership of Ruben Amorim. Despite a challenging start at Old Trafford, the Portuguese defender remains optimistic about the manager’s long-term project.
United have struggled to adapt to Amorim’s tactical philosophy, which brought him great success at Sporting CP. The club’s squad is not yet fully suited to his system, but early signings such as Patrick Dorgu and potential summer target Geovany Quenda indicate a shift towards his preferred style of play.
“I’m Really Convinced We Can Win Big Trophies”

Speaking to United’s Local Supporters’ Club, Dalot reaffirmed his faith in Amorim’s methods, even though he acknowledged that patience is required:
“If you want me to be completely honest, with this manager, I think we can win a Premier League. I think realistically we can win. But then it becomes the most difficult thing to hear as a fan: that it will take time. I understand. I’m a player, but at the same time, I know what fans feel.
“We’re not just talking about cup competitions – of course, winning trophies is important – but what truly defines this club is winning the biggest trophies.
“We need to create an environment where the manager has everything he needs, and we as players must adapt to his system. It will take time. But I’m really convinced that with the way he conducts himself, the way he communicates, and the vision he has, we can do it.”
Patience Needed, But United Are Not Alone
United’s 12-year league title drought is difficult for fans to accept, given the high standards set during the Sir Alex Ferguson era. However, when compared to some of their rivals, this period without a league title isn’t as extreme:
- Arsenal – No Premier League title in 21 years.
- Chelsea – Eight years since their last league triumph.
- Tottenham Hotspur – Last won the English top flight in 1961.
- Newcastle United – Nearly a century since their last league title.
United’s sporting hierarchy is now focused on building a squad that aligns with Amorim’s tactics, but the journey will require patience and several transfer windows.
What Do You Think?
- Can Amorim be the manager to restore Manchester United’s dominance?
- Will fans give him the time he needs to build a Premier League-winning team?
