Arsenal’s Transfer Plans Before Deadline Day

Arsenal are unlikely to follow up their interest in Bayern Munich’s Mathys Tel, reports in Germany claim, while the club is set to reward breakthrough youngsters Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri with new contracts.

The Gunners have been aiming to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s frontline after injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus, focusing on signing a ‘number nine’ to support Kai Havertz. Despite an impressive 5-1 win over reigning Premier League champions Manchester City, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Tel, who has expressed openness to leaving Bayern.

Arsenal Withdraws Interest in Mathys Tel

Tel reportedly prefers a move to struggling Manchester United if he departs the Allianz Arena. Arsenal had been working on a potential loan deal, but according to Sky Sports (via Sky Germany), a transfer is now unlikely. Bayern’s demands—either a loan with an obligation to buy or a permanent transfer—are considered a major stumbling block for Arsenal.

Manchester United have also failed to make progress in negotiations due to similar concerns. The 19-year-old forward has already rejected a move to Tottenham Hotspur, and unless a club is willing to meet Bayern’s conditions, Tel is likely to remain in Germany. Chelsea, who previously cooled their interest, could still return to the negotiating table.

Arsenal Prioritize New Contracts for Young Stars

Arsenal will prioritize new contracts for Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri, according to Fabrizio Romano. Both youngsters have established themselves as key first-team players under Arteta and were on the scoresheet during Arsenal’s stunning victory over Manchester City.

Lewis-Skelly’s performances have kept summer signing Riccardo Calafiori out of the left-back position and could signal the end of Oleksandr Zinchenko’s Arsenal career. Meanwhile, Nwaneri has drawn comparisons to Saka with his talent in midfield. The teenager became the ninth-youngest goalscorer in Premier League history with his goal in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in November.

What Do You Think?
