Liverpool Boss Highlights PSG’s Strength Ahead of Champions League Decider
Liverpool vs PSG: A Crucial Night at Anfield
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has praised Champions League opponents Paris Saint-Germain while subtly criticizing domestic rivals Arsenal and Manchester City ahead of the crucial last-16 second leg on Tuesday night.
Holding a narrow 1-0 aggregate lead from the first leg in Paris, Liverpool benefited from an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Alisson, who made key saves to deny PSG stars Ousmane Dembele and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Despite the advantage, Slot acknowledged the immense challenge PSG presents.
“This is the most complete team we have faced so far,” Slot stated, placing PSG above Arsenal and Manchester City in terms of quality and intensity.
Liverpool drew 2-2 with Arsenal in October and will face them again in May. Meanwhile, they have already defeated Manchester City both home and away this season.
“We have faced Arsenal and Manchester City, and the margins were small. But PSG’s intensity, combined with their quality, financial power, and an exceptional manager, makes them an incredibly tough opponent,” Slot explained.
Liverpool’s Game Plan: No Sitting Back

Despite their aggregate lead, Slot made it clear that Liverpool will not adopt a defensive approach.
“We try to play every game to win. That was our intention last week as well—it wasn’t planned to sit so deep. Our approach remains the same: we are not playing for a draw.”
Liverpool topped the Champions League group stage standings with a near-flawless campaign, reinforcing their status as one of the tournament favorites. A victory over PSG would set up a quarter-final clash against either Aston Villa or Club Brugge, with Liverpool expected to be the favorites to advance to the semi-finals.
Can Liverpool Hold Off PSG?
With Anfield set for another electrifying European night, Liverpool fans will be hoping their team can replicate their best performances. Can Slot’s tactical approach secure a place in the quarter-finals, or will PSG’s firepower turn the tie around?
