  • Spurs suffer a crushing defeat to Everton after a disastrous first half.
  • Injuries continue to cripple Postecoglou’s squad.
  • The Tottenham boss remains defiant but stresses the need for reinforcements.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has doubled down on his call for new signings following his side’s 3-0 defeat to relegation-threatened Everton at Goodison Park. Despite the result, Postecoglou remains committed to his project and believes the team can turn things around.

First-Half Woes and Injury Struggles

A calamitous first-half performance saw Spurs trail 3-0 by the break, sparking concerns over their ability to compete amid an ongoing injury crisis. Postecoglou, however, found encouragement in a spirited second-half response.

“If you look at the situation we’re in, it will eventually dissipate,” Postecoglou told Sky Sports after the game. “I certainly hope and believe it will.

“We’ll give ourselves the opportunity to get consistency in performance and results. I haven’t lost belief or determination to turn it around, and the players showed in the second half that they haven’t either.”

Urgency in the Transfer Market

Tottenham’s mounting injury list remains a significant hurdle. Striker Dominic Solanke became the latest casualty, sidelined with a knee injury. Additionally, defender Radu Drăgușin was forced off after sustaining a deep cut, leaving Spurs even more depleted.

Postecoglou acknowledged the challenges and emphasized the club’s need to act swiftly in the transfer market.

“We are pretty stretched,” he admitted. “We literally had 11 players fit enough to start the game. We weren’t in total control of our organisation, and Everton capitalised on that.

“There will be urgency [in the transfer market], but it doesn’t need me to say it—everybody can see that. The club is working hard and trying to find solutions. These players need help, that’s for sure, and hopefully, over the next ten days or so, we’ll find a solution.

“It’s really tricky; we’re not the only ones in the market, but the club is trying hard.”

Looking Ahead

With just days remaining in the transfer window, Tottenham’s ability to bring in reinforcements could be crucial to salvaging their season. Postecoglou’s optimism in his project remains intact, but the need for immediate solutions has never been more evident.
