Tottenham Boss Hits Back at Critics Following Man Utd Victory

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has strongly defended club captain Son Heung-min against growing criticism, insisting that fans and pundits are too quick to blame individuals for the team’s struggles.

Spurs have endured a difficult period with an unprecedented injury crisis, leading to inconsistent performances and a drop in the Premier League table. Despite this, some have singled out Son for his recent dip in form, a stance that Postecoglou completely rejects.

Postecoglou: “People Are Always Looking for Someone to Blame”

The Spurs boss was direct in his response to Son’s critics, pointing out that the team’s struggles have been a result of injuries rather than poor individual performances.

“I’ve said it a million times; we live in a world where people constantly want someone to blame. The reason for our inconsistency is not because of Sonny or my tactics,” Postecoglou said.

Spurs have been without key players for much of the season, with up to 12 first-team members sidelined at one stage. Son, however, has remained fit and has played in 21 league games, yet some fans have questioned his leadership and influence on the pitch.

Postecoglou dismissed those concerns, saying:

“If people think Sonny hasn’t done everything in his power to help us through this… So what if he is a nice guy? What is wrong with being a nice person?”

Tottenham’s Injury Crisis & Son’s Leadership

Despite a rough run of form, Spurs managed to secure a crucial 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, easing some of the pressure on Postecoglou. James Maddison’s goal sealed the win, while key players like Guglielmo Vicario and Brennan Johnson also returned to action.

Key Takeaways from Tottenham’s Season:

Son remains crucial: Despite the criticism, he has been a vital figure for Spurs.
Injury struggles: Losing multiple starters has disrupted the team’s rhythm.
Postecoglou’s backing: The manager firmly supports Son’s leadership and contributions.

With injured stars returning, Tottenham will look to regain momentum in the coming weeks.

What’s Next for Son & Spurs?

The North London club will aim to build on their win over Manchester United as they continue to fight for a European spot. With Son leading the team, can Spurs turn their season around and prove the doubters wrong?
