Ruben Amorim, the head coach of Manchester United, has reportedly expressed his frustration over the club’s inability to secure new signings in the January transfer window. The Portuguese manager, who took charge earlier this season, is eager to address weaknesses in the squad, particularly in the left-back and attacking positions, but financial constraints have hindered progress.

Manchester United’s Financial Struggles Impact Transfers

When Amorim joined Manchester United, it was made clear that the club would need to sell players to generate funds for new signings. Despite speculation surrounding key players like Marcus Rashford and Casemiro, no major sales have materialized, leaving the squad in limbo.

The Manchester Evening News reports that Amorim is disappointed with the club’s lack of urgency, especially with the team languishing in 13th place—a position he himself described as one of the worst in the club’s history.

Further complicating matters is the revelation that United is close to breaching the Premier League’s financial sustainability regulations. This has significantly limited their ability to invest in much-needed reinforcements.

Targets and Potential Departures

Despite these challenges, United has lodged a €30m bid for Lecce left-back Patrick Dorgu and is pursuing Arsenal youngster Ayden Heaven. However, these moves depend on raising funds through player sales.

One potential solution could involve Alejandro Garnacho, who is attracting significant interest from Chelsea. Garnacho could be sold for around £60m, or United might negotiate a swap deal that would see Christopher Nkunku join Old Trafford in exchange.

Was Amorim Fully Informed About Financial Issues?

Reports have emerged suggesting that Amorim may not have been fully aware of the extent of Manchester United’s financial difficulties when he took the job. However, other sources claim the coach was given a complete briefing before signing his contract.

Amorim’s frustrations underline the growing tension at Old Trafford as the club struggles to balance its ambitions with financial constraints.
