Aston Villa’s Colombian striker, Jhon Duran, has become a surprise target for Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, according to recent reports.

Duran Attracting International Interest

The 21-year-old forward, who has impressed in his first season at Villa Park, has garnered attention from several top clubs across Europe. Earlier this week, Premier League rivals West Ham United made a £57m bid for Duran, but Aston Villa quickly rejected the offer. Villa has no intentions of selling their rising star, particularly as they balance domestic duties with their Champions League aspirations.

Despite Villa’s clear stance, Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr are preparing a bid to test Villa’s resolve. The club, which boasts Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane in its attacking ranks, is reportedly willing to offer over £80m for Duran, knowing that Villa values him highly.

Duran’s Impressive Form at Villa

Duran has quickly become one of the Premier League’s sharpest attacking talents. With seven goals in just 598 minutes of action, mostly as a second-half substitute for Ollie Watkins, he has shown his ability to make an impact when called upon.

He also scored the match-winning goal in Villa’s memorable 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League, further cementing his importance in manager Unai Emery’s plans. Days after his performance against Bayern, Duran signed a new six-year contract, securing his future at Villa Park until 2030.

Ongoing Transfer Interest and Villa’s Strong Stance

Duran’s name continues to appear in the transfer rumors, despite his recent contract extension. Arsenal, who are actively looking for a new centre forward, have been linked with Duran, while Paris Saint-Germain, the Ligue 1 champions, have also expressed strong interest. Barcelona is reportedly keen on testing the waters for a potential move to Spain.

Even though Villa has bolstered its attacking options with the signing of Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund, it remains uncertain whether Al Nassr can persuade Villa to part ways with Duran.

Will Duran Stay or Move in the Transfer Window?

Al Nassr, who are currently 11 points behind joint league leaders Al Hilal and Al Ittihad, are looking to strengthen their squad with another star player. However, with the £80m price tag set by Villa, it remains to be seen whether the Saudi club can secure Duran’s services this January.

Do you think Jhon Duran should stay at Villa or move to one of the interested clubs? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
