Tottenham Hotspur secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Manchester United on Sunday, but instead of showing sympathy for United’s injury crisis, Ange Postecoglou took the opportunity to remind everyone of Spurs’ own struggles earlier in the season.

Tottenham’s Long-Awaited Home Win
Sunday’s victory marked Tottenham’s first league win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since the opening weekend of November. The match also saw the return of key players James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario, both of whom played crucial roles in securing all three points for Spurs.
Manchester United, on the other hand, arrived in North London with a heavily depleted squad. Ruben Amorim had to name eight teenage substitutes, who had a combined ten minutes of Premier League experience, due to ten first-team absences.
Postecoglou’s Sharp Response to United’s Injury Crisis

When asked if he sympathized with Amorim’s situation, Postecoglou’s response was blunt and unapologetic:
“If I check my office, I don’t have any sympathy cards from other managers, so that hasn’t happened,” he sarcastically stated.
“I could see Ruben there, players out of position, kids on the bench. Well, welcome to my world.”
The Spurs boss then emphasized the difference between United’s current struggles and Tottenham’s two-month injury nightmare:
“But that’s for one game. Now do that for two months. Do that for two months,” he repeated.
“Any club. Do that for two months. I thought Man Utd were good today, considering all that, and we had our days when we were good—we beat Liverpool in this spell. Do that for two months.”
Ruben Amorim Stays Focused on the Bigger Picture
Despite Postecoglou’s remarks, Ruben Amorim remained focused on his own team’s struggles:
“I have a lot of problems,” Amorim admitted to Sky Sports.
“My job is so hard, but I am here to continue my job next week with my beliefs, and I will try to win again.”
With eight defeats in their last 12 matches, United now sit in 15th place, barely above the relegation battle. Only Leicester and Southampton have picked up fewer points in this period.
What’s Next for Tottenham and Manchester United?
Can Tottenham build on this momentum and solidify their place in the top four, or will their inconsistent form return? Meanwhile, can Ruben Amorim turn things around before Manchester United’s season spirals further out of control?
