Barcelona Official Makes Bold Claim on Teen Sensation
Lamine Yamal has been tipped to surpass even Lionel Messi at Barcelona, as the club continues its quest to develop the next generation of world-class talents. At just 17, the young winger has already established himself as a key player for the Blaugrana, a feat even Messi had not achieved at the same age.
Barcelona’s sporting department, led by Deco, is focused on ensuring a steady flow of academy graduates into the first team. Andrea Mancini, a scout working under Deco, highlighted the club’s commitment to developing young stars and made a stunning prediction about Yamal’s future.
“I am looking for new Lamine Yamals,” Mancini told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The club’s challenge is to bring at least four or five players from La Masia into the first team every year. And the challenge is met every year. Look at Yamal, it’s easy to say, but he’s been here for three years now. He will become stronger than everyone, even Messi.”
Can Yamal Truly Eclipse Messi?

While Yamal has made a bigger impact at a younger age, Messi’s greatness was built on consistency and longevity. The Argentine legend scored over 30 goals for 13 consecutive seasons, including a record-breaking 73 goals in the 2011/12 campaign.
Yamal is not yet a prolific goal scorer, but neither was Messi before turning 21. His development trajectory suggests that he could evolve into a similar attacking force over time.
Barcelona’s Long-Term Vision for Yamal
Barcelona is determined to keep Yamal for the long haul. Last summer, the club rejected a staggering €250 million bid from Paris Saint-Germain, a situation reminiscent of Inter Milan’s failed attempt to sign Messi in 2006. Sporting director Deco has made it clear that no offers for Yamal will be considered, and a new contract is already in the works.
With such high expectations, the question remains: Can Lamine Yamal live up to the hype and surpass Messi’s legendary status at Barcelona? Share your thoughts in the comments!
