Ronaldo Set to Stay at Al Nassr for Another Year
Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly agreed to extend his Al Nassr contract for another year, keeping him at the Saudi Pro League club until June 2026. The Portuguese superstar, who turned 40 in February, has no plans to retire and remains one of the most prolific forwards in world football.
Ronaldo initially signed a two-and-a-half-year deal when he joined Al Nassr in January 2023 after leaving Manchester United. His contract was set to expire this summer, but according to AFP, a verbal agreement has been reached for a one-year extension.
A club official, speaking anonymously, confirmed the development but added:
“The deal has not been signed yet. An announcement will be made over the coming days.”
Ronaldo’s Incredible Longevity in Saudi Arabia
Despite reaching his 40s, Ronaldo remains a dominant force in the Saudi Pro League. He has started 18 of 19 league matches this season and leads the scoring charts with 16 goals.
Al Nassr has also begun shifting its transfer strategy towards younger talents, as seen in their £20m signing of 21-year-old Jhon Duran. However, Ronaldo’s continued impact on and off the pitch has made him an irreplaceable figure at the club.
No Plans for a Move to Europe
There have been rumors linking Ronaldo with a return to Europe, with clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester City, and Fenerbahçe (under José Mourinho) reportedly interested. However, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner has repeatedly expressed his commitment to Al Nassr.
At the start of 2025, Ronaldo stated:
“The most important thing is to be professional, to push hard, respect the club, and respect your contract.”
With his contract now expected to run until June 2026, fans will continue to witness Ronaldo making history in Saudi Arabia.
